Ontario’s prosperity has traditionally lagged behind its North American peers. In 2014, the province’s prosperity gap (measured as GDP per capita) grew to $12,015 below the peer median. The gap is larger for GDP per worker. Ontarians produce 28 and 16 percent less than the median in goods- and service-producing sectors, respectively.
