John Armstrong is the National Industry Lead for Financial Services at KPMG Canada. In this role, he is accountable for indusry leadership in Canada of all services - audit, tax and consulting - across all industry segments.
Prior to joining KPMG, John was the Managing Director of Capco, a global business and technology consultancy dedicated solely to the financial services industry. During his tenure Capco was recognized as 17th in Best Workplaces in Canada.
Prior to Capco, John served in a variety of senior leadership roles over more than a decade at Accenture, including as Managing Director of the firm’s Canadian Financial Services practice and as Managing Director of Accenture’s Management Consulting practice across all industries.
John is an expert in country and regional competitiveness and currently serves on the Ontario's Panel on Economic Growth & Prosperity. Prior to the formation of the Panel, John served on the Ontario Premier's Task Force on Competitiveness, Productivity and Economic Progress.
While as the Canadian Managing Director at Monitor Company, John co-authored, with Professor Michael E. Porter and Roger Martin, Canada at the Crossroads, a comprehensive study of Canada’s competitiveness.
John is very involved in charitable work and currently serves as Chair of the Board of the United Way of Oakville.
He earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard University with High Distinction, graduating as a George F. Baker Scholar and earned his Bachelor of Commerce, with Distinction from the University of Toronto. John also holds the ICD.D designation.
