About the project
This is a major new project to evaluate management practices across Europe, Asia, the US and now Canada. It has been run in the past by the London School of Economics in co-operation with Cambridge University and Stanford University, and endorsed by the UK Government.
The Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity is running the project in Canada along with McKinsey, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and strong support from the above-mentioned institutions, as well as from the HRSDC. The work will use interviews of senior managers to identify similarities and differences in management practices across firms and countries.

Purpose of the Survey
The research mainly focuses on Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SME’s) active in the manufacturing sector. The management interview will provide invaluable information for policy makers and managers alike, allowing an unprecedented cross country comparison of management practices. This will help understand strength and weaknesses in the adoption and implementation of modern managerial tools in various manufacturing industries. At the same time, it will help the managers identifying opportunities and threats in the global economy.
Confidentiality undertaking
The managers contacted for the purpose of the interview are randomly selected from public records. The interview does not cover any financial aspect relative to the firm. The names of managers and firms participating to the interview are strictly confidential and will not be disclosed under any circumstances.
