Compared to the United States, Canada has consistently under performed on both the quality and quantity of venture capital. Since 2004, returns to venture capital in Canada have hovered around zero, faring worse than those in the United States. Historically, returns in the United States have been very positive, but since 2001 they have dropped significantly. Still, they out perform results in Canada.
