For the past several years Ontario’s rank has shifted between 14th and 15th place out of 16 North American peers jurisdictions. In 2009, Ontario ranked 14th, just ahead of Michigan. In 2008, Ontario’s GDP per capita was $5,900 below the median of these peers. In 2009 the gap increased to $6,900.
