In 1992 in Ontario, all levels of government spent $2,400 per capita on education (in 2009 dollars) - 6.8% more than we spent on health care. However, ongoing federal and provincial deficits since 1971 changed the course of our public spending patterns and by 1998, governments in Ontario were spending more on healthcare than education.
