John Armstrong
John Armstrong is Managing Partner at The Capital Markets Company (Capco), where he co-leads the Canadian business of this prominent consulting firm, a subsidiary of FIS. John has over 25 years of experience consulting in the banking, wealth management, and capital markets sectors on high level business strategy and technology planning and operations for a range of global institutions. Prior to joining Capco, John was Managing Director of Financial Services for Accenture Inc., where he worked with financial institutions in Canada across Accenture’s business lines, including systems integration and technology, business process and applications outsourcing as well as management consulting. During his career at Accenture, John also led Accenture’s Management Consulting practice in Canada across all industries. This practice included the Strategy, CRM, Human Performance, Finance and Performance Management and Supply Chain services lines.
Prior to joining Accenture, John was with Monitor Company, where he was Managing Director of the Canadian practice for a number of years. In 1991, while at Monitor, John co-led, with Dean Roger Martin, and Professor Michael E. Porter of Harvard University, “Canada at the Crossroads”, a comprehensive study of Canada’s competiveness.
John also serves as a Volunteer Advisor at MaRS Discovery District, a non-profit innovation centre connecting and fostering collaboration among the communities of business, capital, and technology.
John earned his Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Toronto, and his Master in Business Administration with High Distinction from Harvard Business School and was designated as a Baker Scholar.
He serves on the Board of the United Way of Oakville and is an ICD-D certified Director.
