David Johnston
President of the University of Waterloo, David Johnston is the author/co-author of several books, including Getting Canada Online: Understanding the Information Highway. Professor Johnston completed his university studies with honours in three countries: the United States (Harvard A.B. 1963), England (Cambridge LL.B. 1965) and Canada (Queen’s LL.B. 1966).
In addition to numerous academic positions, he has served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario and Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University. He has chaired the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, the Neuroscience Network Centre of Excellence and the Information Highway Advisory Council.
